One June 11, 1999, Bronx Supreme Court Judge Bertram Katz dismissed the 1.15
billion-dollar lawsuit filed against the Nation of Islam by eight New York
City police officers alleging injuries sustained when they stormed Muhammad  Mosque No. 7 on January 9, 1999. This victory is significant given the tense racial climate in New York City concerning acts of racially motivated police misconduct and brutality.
